Les Silenes, Alas, Ariege, France (Bed and Breakfast (B&B)) Off the beaten tourist track, our spacious 18th century house is ideally situated in the picturesque little village of ALAS, at the foot of the Pyrenees. A paradise for nature lovers, out-door activities and for those looking for an escape from the stress of modern life, the unspoilt beauty of this corner of Ariege offers unrivalled peace and tranquility. Alas is the departure point for numerous walking paths without needing to take the car, and the surrounding valleys are rich in rambling opportunities, passing through rolling green hills, isolated hamlets, stunning waterfalls, rivers and forests. For the adventurous, nearby mountains such as Mount Valier and Pic de Trois Seigneurs are a magnet for fit and experienced climbers - mountain refuges are available for the night. The area attracts many cylists who want to test their legs on the Tour de France route, which passes through the neighbouring villages. Local caves such as Maz d'Azil, and Niaux, renowned throughout the world for its pre-historic cave paintings, are nearby. Our bed and breakfast has five spacious rooms, recently decorated, each with its own bathroom. Tea making facilities are available, as well as a washing machine and iron. There is a play area for children in the garden and we have private parking. We serve a copious breakfast with home-made and local products. We can provide picnic lunches if you require and evening meals. Vegetarian meals available on request.
