Bon Sejour, Sarrians, Vaucluse, France (Bed and Breakfast (B&B))

Bon Sejour, Sarrians, Vaucluse
The house is at least 100 years old, built using local materials with half meter thick walls and exposed poutres or beams. We have completely refurbished the house from top to bottom retaining old features and marrying modern convenience with a Provencal ambiance. The rooms are private and have large double beds.

Continental breakfast may be served on the terrace or, on occasion, in your room and may include fresh produce from the garden such as cherries, figs or melon.

Les Etoiles is a beautiful room with a peaked ceiling, which is always at least 1.9m in height rising to 3.5m. It is about 30m2 (320 sq ft) including the en suite facilities. Situated on the top floor, it has windows to the south and north and a skylight to watch the stars at night.

Les Cerises looks onto the garden in the south and is on the first floor. It has a separate private bathroom with views to the west and lovely sunsets. The bathroom floor is covered in original, locally made, terre cuite tiles and the ceiling decorated in the original Provencal style. The combined area of the two rooms is also 30 sq m.

Provence offers a wild and varied terrain with wide plains, mountains rising suddenly from them and full of delightful villages. The largest spring in Europe at Fontaine de Vaucluse emerges as a full blown river which flows around Isle sur la Sorgues, where there is a world renowned antiques market every Sunday. The deepest gorge is also close to here. Provence is a heady combination of wonderful sights bathed in luminescence, floating perfumes and steeped in history.

We are five minutes from Sarrians with a good restaurant (seasonal) and 20 minutes from Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape, Carpentras, Gigondas, Vaqueras, Seguret, Beaume de Venise and many other beautiful villages.

We are well placed for exploring all these wonderful sights of Provence and for enjoying its many leisure activities. We are on the doorstep of the wine regions of Cotes de Rhones and Cotes de Ventoux, close to mountains and to the famous and beautiful Luberon.

Places to visit include:
 Avignon with its history, the Pope’s Palace, festival and relaxed atmosphere.
 Orange where there is a stunning Roman amphitheatre which is home to stunning events during the summer.
 Vaison la Romain with Roman and medieval sights and or favourite market.
 The Luberon villages of Gordes, Rousillon, Menerbes and Lacoste.
 The Gorge de Vanesques
 Pont du Gare, which has many activities.

If you enjoy outdoor activities, there are wonderful walks and cycle routes from the house or in the mountains a few minutes from here. Les Dentelles de Montmirail are famous for their sheer sides and challenging rock climbing as well as for visually dominating the area.

Part of the Mont Ventoux section of the Tour de France passes our front door so we get a lot of cyclists practising all year round! There are golf courses within half an hour and places for canoeing and swimming close also.

There are many markets around Provence – in fact you can visit a market every day of the week. Our favourites include Vaison la Romain, which is well organised if somewhat busy during the season and Ilse sur la Sorgues which has the traditional market allied with a world famous antiques market on Sunday. Carpentras market on Fridays is also worth a visit.

We are also on the doorstep of the most famous wine producing appelations and villages in Cotes de Rhones and have built connections with local producers. If you are interested in wine or in a wine tour we will be happy to help, although advanced warning always lines up a better visit.

There are also restaurants locally and within easy driving distance. The area has a large population from North Africa and so has many places where you can eat couscous, but mostly the food is French or local. There are also local farmers who offer terroir food with a fixed menu and they bring you in direct contact with the local culture.

We are located 15 minutes from the A7 and A9 Orange exit and 25 minutes from Avignon TGB. Marseilles and Nimes airports are about 1 hour.
